BEATRICE – A large part of Beatrice was without electricity, at mid-morning, Thursday.
Power was out in the west part of the city, starting at around 10:35 a.m. Electric Superintendent Pat Feist says a problem developed at a city substation located along U.S. Highway 136.

Feist says power was restored to all customers by around 11:30 a.m. He estimates about 250 to 300 customers were affected by the outage, in the west part of the city.

A new automated metering infrastructure system that’s been installed in the electric and water departments pinpointed the problem quickly.

The power outage affected KWBE radio. The station came back on the air at about 11:15 a.m.
