Power Knocked Out During Snow, Restored in Norris Public Power District

BEATRICE – Norris Public Power District has restored power to all of their customers who lost electricity in yesterday’s bout with heavy, wet snow.

Norris Operations and Safety Manager Trevor Wehrer says at the height of the outage, nearly one-thousand district customers were without power.

Wehrer says the wet heavy snow caused problems on trees that still have their canopy of leaves.

Some communities and rural areas in the Norris District had anywhere from two to nearly seven inches of snow, on Sunday.

Wehrer says the district was fortunate that the snow wasn’t accompanied by strong winds, which could have caused more serious problems.  He says outages began at around late Sunday morning, and power had been restored to nearly all customers by ten o’clock, Sunday night.

Wehrer says if isolated customers still do not have power, they should call 402-223-4038.

Norris Public Power District has customers in Lancaster, Seward, Saline, Gage, Jefferson and Thayer Counties.  The district also serves Belleville, Kansas.
