Beatrice–After 45 years of serving pork sandwiches to those attending the Gage County Fair, the Blue Valley Pork Producers food stand will close it’s doors for the last time on Sunday night. Jean Spilker, who has been responsible for operating the food stand for the local pork organization since 19-96, says this is the last fair for the popular eating place….

Spilker says a decision was made earlier in the year that this would be the last fair for the food stand. She says a lot of volunteers have made it possible to keep the food stand open each year….

The pork stand began business in a small trailer where the beer garden is presently located. The pork producers eventually moved into their present building which earlier was home to the Martin Luther Home food stand.
Over the 45 years the menu has changed to offer a variety to those attending the fair.
