Peterson Enters Not Guilty Plea To Charges of Police Pursuit

AUBURN – Rex D. Peterson Jr., 33, entered a not guilty plea Wednesday to a charge of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest on June 7.

A Nemaha County sheriff’s deputy attempted to serve a parole warrant on Peterson near Brock, but prosecutors say he left in a Honda Civic.

Otoe County sheriff’s deputies joined the Nebraska State Patrol in a chase near the Peru bottoms. The pursuit, which included a state patrol helicopter, became a search after the suspect eluded stop sticks near the OPPD Road.

News Channel Nebraska reported that a Honda Civic suspected of being the subject of the chase was found the following day crashed in Nemaha County, Kansas.

Peterson was arrested in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Sept. 22. Jury trial is scheduled Jan. 18.
