Osceola Native Finds Peace in Downtown Yoga Studio
Osceola native Melinn Williams owns and operates her own yoga studio in downtown Columbus

COLUMBUS – An Osceola native has found a serenity, working in her studio in downtown Columbus, in a continued effort to grow the Yoga community.

Melinn Williams lives with her husband Jesse in rural Osceola, and was making the commute to Omaha everyday, when she decided she should bring her Yoga practice closer to home. Williams says she initially started with a single studio in Osceola, before the right opportunity provided her a chance to expand to downtown Columbus.

“I actually started a year before I ever opened the studio, looking for space. And I was like, it’s never going to happen, and then it just worked out with Adam and Ashley, who previously owned this building. I just reached out to them, and somebody had mentioned that maybe they’d share space, and it all just came together beautifully,” says Williams.

Williams opened The Studio in September of 2015, before finally purchasing it from the owners a year later.

Williams also recently added a new member to her family with the birth of Georgia Williams, and says yoga has become an even stronger part of her life, with the birth of her first child.

“It is amazing how a tiny little human being can test your patience and also fill your heart with so much love. And so yoga is wonderful because I get that time for myself,” says Williams, “Really dive into what you need to release what’s no longer serving you, and so yoga has been such a blessing.”

Williams instructs Be You Yoga at The Studio, and says Katie Poffenbarger also instructs classes at the facility. The space includes three different levels, and Williams hopes to continue expanding the uses of the facility to help meet the exercise needs of the community.
