One Person Killed in Clay County, Kansas Collision

BEATRICE –  The Kansas Highway Patrol reports one person was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Clay County, last night.

The accident happened about eleven miles south of Clay Center, at the junction of Kansas Highway 82 and Kansas 15.

A 1990 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 28-year-old Zachary Howard, of Clay Center, was westbound on highway 82, and allegedly ran a stop sign.  The pickup collided with a southbound 2012 Ford Taurus, traveling Kansas Highway 15.

The driver of the car, 57-year-old Mary Elizabeth Rowland, of Longford, Kansas….was killed.

The pickup driver, Howard, was taken to the Clay County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Kansas Highway patrol said the collision happened at 7:50 p.m.
