BEATRICE – One person was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital yesterday, after a two-vehicle collision at 16th and Monroe.
Beatrice Police say 33-year-old Kelsy Alvarez was driving east on Monroe, when a southbound car on 16th stopped at a sign, but then pulled out in front of the eastbound vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle on 16th, 75-year-old Richard Roach, was cited for failure to yield. Roach was not injured. Alvarez was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The collision sent fire and police to the scene, at about 5:15 p.m.
Beatrice firefighters were sent to a Garden Street home last night, on a report of a grease fire in the kitchen. A fire captain says the flare-up was out, by the time firefighters got to the scene. There was some smoke damage in the 7:05 p.m. incident.
