One dead, two injured in head-on collision near Plainview

One man died and two other people were injured Tuesday evening in head-on collision near Plainview, Nebraska.

An 80-year-old man from Creighton was pronounced dead at the scene, Pierce County Sheriff Rick Eberhardt said Wednesday. The names of the deceased and injured are being withheld for now pending notification of family.

Investigators determined that two vehicles collided about 5:40 p.m. two miles south of Plainview on Nebraska Highway 13. One of the injured people was flown to a hospital by helicopter and the other was taken by ambulance, Eberhardt said.
