Old Beatrice Community Hospital Becoming Rubble Pile

BEATRICE – Chunk by chunk, the former Beatrice Community Hospital is being taken down.

Backhoes are ripping away at the structure in the north-central part of the city, with trucks lined up to haul away the debris.

Replaced by a new hospital along North Highway 77, the old property at 11th and Jackson is being torn down to make room for new housing.

Excel Development is building a senior housing project on the site.  Single family homes are also being built nearby, west and south of the old hospital.

The new Beatrice Community Hospital opened in 2012.  Excel Development expressed interest in buying the old hospital property, and a purchase agreement was signed in February, of 2017.

The new housing projects are being financed through a public-private partnership.
