FAIRBURY – What’s Thanksgiving without a wonderful dinner? Many people from around the area came to the Elk’s Lodge for a free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.
The 16th Annual Free Thanksgiving Meal drew hundreds of people, including Maryann Willis and Max Lassley.
“I think it’s great that they do this for the people of Fairbury,” said Willis.
The event was open to the public and at no cost to anyone that wanted to enjoy a meal, didn’t want to slave over a hot stove or wanted to see some great friends in the process.
“She hasn’t lived in Fairbury that long, about ten years, but I’ve been here since ’61 and it’s very interesting to meet the people I’ve known for many years and chat with them. I like that,” declared Lassley.
The Free Thanksgiving Meal took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge in Fairbury. It gave people a place to sit down and eat, or even come and pick up their food so they could spend their time at home.
Thank you to all the people and sponsors that made this event happen.
