This Saturday, the town of Odell in southwestern Gage County will hold its annual Community Day.
Activities start bright and early at 8 a.m. with a sand volleyball tournament. There are events going on all day, ranging from a car show, a watermelon eating contest, a rib cooking contest, a “chicken poop raffle” and much more.
The event wraps up with a street dance starting at 9 p.m. The car show, which is in its seventh year at Community Day, will begin at noon.
The Odell Area for Community Enrichment has taken months to plan the perfect day to celebrate their community. Brenda O’Toole has been involved in the planning for the past ten years, and expects a strong turnout once again this year.
“There’s lots to do,” O’Toole said. “It’s great to see the community come out and participate. We hope they all do, and it’s supposed to be a beautiful day. It’s nice to see the car show bring in so many people to the community. We like to show off our little town, so it’s great.”
