BEATRICE – Construction of a new extended-stay hotel in north Beatrice is expected to begin next spring and be completed in time for opening in the spring of 2020.
Recently, Beatrice Lodging LLC applied to make use of tax increment financing to aid in the project, which would be built on parking area just north of the Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
Mike Works of Beatrice Lodging LLC says he’s excited about the prototype hotel coming to a city where there is a demand for lodging space.
Executive Director for Gage Area Growth Enterprise, Walker Zulkoski says a hotel study in 2017 by Core Distinction Group LLC indicated a need for 45 to 55 hotel guest rooms in the Beatrice area.

The three-to-four-story hotel will require a construction crew of between 100 and 125 workers. The hotel will have four to six full-time employees and around six to ten part-time employees. The MyPlace Hotel will have around 50 extended stay rooms.
Zulkoski says it will be interesting to see if more lodging space develops, along with related business.

There’s the potential of complimentary business development, such as restaurants or grocery stores.
