BEATRICE – Customers of the Wymore Rural Water District have the all-clear to resume normal consumption of their water.
The State of Nebraska has approved lifting a boil order, following testing that now indicates the water is safe to drink.
A break in a water main between a pump station and the Lower Big Blue NRD water tower near Wymore happened December 1st, requiring repairs to the system and the boil notice order.
The system lost pressure at that time and snowy conditions and considerable water in fields following heavy rains made tracing the leak difficult.
The NRD provided bottled water for those who needed it. Lower Big Blue NRD Manager Dave Clabaugh says the district had been treating the water with chlorine while the testing process continued.
But now, the all-clear has been given. All water samples have passed the required bacteria testing.
The Wymore Rural Water District has about 230 customers connections that serve over 500 residents.
