NORFOLK – A Norfolk teen faces a litany of charges after police say he ran over a mailbox with his car early Tuesday.

Norfolk Police Capt. Micahel Bauer says 18-year old Riley Hamilton was arrested Tuesday morning. Capt. Bauer says police were sent to the 1400 block of Longhorn Drive just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, where a car had knocked over and was resting on top of a concrete mailbox.

Bauer says Hamilton was unconscious behind the wheel, and officers could see a revolver sitting on the driver’s seat next to Hamilton.

Following a drug test at the Norfolk Police Station, Hamilton was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Officers a pipe and baggie with methamphetamine residue on them in Hamilton’s vehicle, and a check of the gun showed that it had been reported stolen in 2007.

Hamilton is currently housed in the Madison County Jail.
