New Shelter Result of Grant

Beatrice–Keep Beatrice Beautiful has been awarded a 10-thousand dollar grant as part of the 2018 Keep America Beautiful/Lowe’s Community Partners Grant program. The Keep Beatrice Beautiful grant provided the funding to construct a cement pad and a A-D-A shelter at Hannibal Park.

The Beatrice High School Construction class is helping to construct the shelter. Instructor Jim West says there are eleven students consisting of sophomores, juniors and seniors who have spent about 20 hours constructing the new addition. West estimates the project should be completed in about a week or two.

The 30 by 30 foot shelter is located in the center area of the ball complex and will include six recycled picnic tables.
