New BPS Board to be Sworn In, O-Zone Vision Contract Up For Action

BEATRICE – A new Beatrice Board of Education officially takes office, tonight.  New board members Eric Trusty and Erin Chadwick will be sworn in, along with reelected members Jon Zimmerman and Doris Martin.

The board will select a President along with other officers.  Zimmerman has been serving as the body’s President this past year.

The Beatrice School Board is now a seven-member, rather than six-member body.  The Board of Education approved that change starting with the new term, to help ward off situations where a tie vote might stall action on important matters.

Committee selections will be made at tonight’s seven o’clock meeting.

The board is scheduled to act on a proposed contract with Daktronics, for the O-Zone Vision video board project.   Last week, Superintendent Jason Alexander said the prime business sponsor spaces for the project have been sold.  The video board would be installed in the Beatrice High School O-Zone gym.

Beatrice School Board members are also scheduled to get an update on the Beatrice Community Preschool, tonight.
