Nebraska U.S. House Member Trying For Seventh Term

BEATRICE – Republican House member Adrian Smith is trying for a seventh two-year term in the House, this year.

The 3rd District Representative from Gering was asked about some of the close election races across the country and the possibility of a change in the house majority…what some call the potential for a “blue wave”.

:29                  “forging ahead on”

Smith says it’s up to members of Congress to communicate to the public things that have been accomplished, in the wake of public dissatisfaction with those in Washington.

:29                  “got it done”

The Republican says a follow-up that is needed to the tax reform package is addressing the issue of workforce development, to solve what he calls a jobs gap.

:18                  “future prosperity”

Smith says he would like Congress to halt the prospect of having to pass continuing resolutions to maintain operations…and instead debate and pass appropriations bills with a simple majority vote.  He says continuing resolutions should be a last option.

Smith made a campaign stop in Beatrice, on Wednesday.  Also running for the Republican nomination for the 3rd District House seat are Kirk Penner, of Aurora, Larry Bolinger of Niobrara and Arron Kowalski, of Grand Island.  Democrat Paul Theobald, of Osmond is unopposed in the Primary.
