BEATRICE – The Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce and Industry held their 23rd fall legislative forum Wednesday, out of a series of 31 leading up to next year’s Nebraska Legislative Session.
Chamber officials met in Beatrice to get input from local officials about business priorities.

State Chamber President Barry Kennedy says the state’s tax climate has a role in whether or not Nebraska can attract people to work in the state. But, he says there appears to be ample career employment positions for people, in the state.
Though dismay over Nebraska’s property tax burden receives most of the attention, Kennedy feels addressing the income tax is also important.

Kennedy says this next session will be a challenge, given the revenue conditions being felt in the state. The state chamber has been working on proposals throughout the interim for introduction in the new session.

The state chamber president says there appears to be some pick-up in economic activity as areas continue to work their way back, from recessionary times.

The Nebraska State Chamber will hold six more fall legislative forums, including one on October 19th….a noon meeting at the Nebraska City Eagles Club.
