LINCOLN – By running the bureau in Falls City for News Channel Nebraska, Jon Kipper gets to develop relationships with all different areas of the town. On Friday, he was awarded for his dedicated effort to covering Falls City schools.
Nominated by Media Specialist at Falls City South Elementary School, Gail Froeschl, Kipper was presented with the Partner in Education Award from the Nebraska State Educator’s Association.
“I think it is one way to resonate some of my work, but I think just being down there, the thing that stood out was that there were a lot of cool stories coming out of Falls City Public Schools. Maybe some of them were told in the past, maybe some of them weren’t, and I’m just happy I got to highlight that a little bit,” said Kipper.
The Lincoln native has run the bureau in Falls City since August of last year. His parents were with him at the banquet held in the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel.
“Just watching him grow, it’s been amazing. He gets a story and he gets right to work. Of course, I’m his mom, so I could see why he got it, but we’re very appreciative,” declared Maureen Kipper.
His father, Denny Kipper, added, “Very proud, and I know this is work that he really likes to do, so it’s good to see the benefits of that.”
Kipper was very grateful of the award, but he said he wasn’t satisfied. He looks forward to continuing his coverage in Falls City.
“It wasn’t something I was really expecting, but yeah it paid off. This doesn’t mean I’m going to stop covering Falls City schools. I’m going to keep it up. I actually have a few events coming up over the next few weeks, but yeah it’s certainly cool to be recognized,” stated Kipper.
Kipper has been with the News Channel Nebraska family since June of 2015, and I speak for everyone in saying congratulations to a hard working reporter.
