Mother and Grandmother Accused of Keeping Children in Trash and Feces Go to Court Wednesday

FAIRBURY – Back in August two local children, 10 months and 20 months old at the time, were taken into Emergency Protective Custody after the Fairbury Police Department discovered large amounts of trash and feces from humans and animals in the area the children were living.

On Wednesday morning, the mother of the two children, Autumn P. Johnson, age 22, will stand in Jefferson County Court for her hearing. Johnson is facing two counts of child abuse intentional/no injury, Class 3A Felonies.

Fairbury Police Department reports that they were dispatched to 822 G Street in Fairbury because of an altercation between Johnson, and her mother, Autumn Boomgaarn, age 45. They were in disagreement about who should clean the house that the City of Fairbury served notice to.

Boomgaarn is also facing the same charges. Her hearing is also scheduled for Wednesday morning.
