BEATRICE – The Gage County Sheriff’s Office has released information on separate vehicle accidents, that occurred last Friday and Saturday.
Authorities say 18-year-old Madelyn Jackson of Beatrice was driving east on U.S. Highway 136 at around 5:25 p.m., Saturday, approaching South 66th Road. Her GPS advised her to turn left at the next intersection. Jackson’s vehicle began to skid as she braked, to make the turn.
The 1995 Ford Mustang went off the highway and rolled over, into a drainage ditch. Officers say Jackson had only minor injuries, and no fire or rescue vehicles were sent to the scene. Two airbags in the car deployed.
In a separate accident last Friday morning, sheriff’s officers report a rollover accident happened at around 7:30 a.m., near Sargent Road and 13th Street. Authorities say 16-year-old John Mencl was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer west on Sargent Road, when the vehicle struck an unknown object in the road.
The SUV slid into the south ditch, rolling an undetermined amount of times. Mencl had minor cuts and bruises and was later transported to the Beatrice Medical Center by a family member. The vehicle had been removed from the scene prior to law officers’ arrival.
