Mid-Afternoon Collision Briefly Blocks Beatrice Intersection

BEATRICE – No serious injuries occurred in a two-vehicle collision in east Beatrice, Monday afternoon.

Police say a southbound GMC sport utility vehicle stopped at a stop sign, but then proceeded into the intersection, clipping the rear of an eastbound Dodge minivan.  The van spun around, coming to rest facing southwest, just east of the intersection of 14th and Lincoln.

The male driver of the southbound vehicle was ticketed by police, in the 3:15 p.m. collision.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to check over occupants involved in the accident, but no one was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital.

The SUV had damage to its bumper, hood and a headlight.  The van had damage to the left rear, a wheel and the axle….and had to be towed from the scene.  Traffic was briefly detoured just north or south of the intersection.
