LINCOLN – Memorial Stadium is a familiar place to Husker fans, but it’s the voice of Husker Football that is going to be familiar to Beatrice residents.
“Well, I’m happy to let the cat out of the bag. It’s been kind of tough this summer. We had settled on this earlier in the summer, and knowing ‘Hey, I’m going to be a part of Nebraska football,’ and people’s experiences on game day. To sit on that for the whole summer has been tough, so to finally let everyone else know my good news, has been really fun,” said Nate Rohr.
Nate Rohr has been named the new Public Address Announcer for Nebraska football games this fall. He is a native of Beatrice, attending Beatrice High School and even performing PA Announcer duties at the school.
“I’ve heard from a lot of people over the last couple of days, a lot of encouragement, a lot of people excited, people who knew me in high school doing the public address announcing for Beatrice athletics, plenty of my classmates and even some people I might not have know, but are proud a Beatrice person is going to be a big part of football Saturdays,” declared Rohr.
Rohr, who is even a former KWBE part time employee, will always remember his humble beginnings.
“I’m obviously very proud of being from Beatrice and I still have a connection with the hometown. My families still back there, so I’m back there every now and again I still keep an eye on the Orangemen and Lady Orange. If folks see me as a representative of Beatrice, I’m very happy to carry the banner,” stated Rohr.
Now, the 87,000 fans that can fit into Memorial Stadium on Saturdays this fall will be listening to Beatrice’s own Nate Rohr.
