Mayor Bulkley Commends City Staff for Storm Clean-up Effort

COLUMBUS – Mayor Jim Bulkley took time Monday, to commend the clean-up effort by city staff following storms last week.

Bulkley says although the storm wasn’t as damaging as one that hit Columbus in July of 2016, it was still one that needed a quick and effective response by city crews. Bulkley says the staff did a great job working along with Loup Public Power to restore power to local residents with downed lines, and says the transfer station workers did great getting local residents in and out quickly as they dumped their tree debris.

“I just think the staff addressing the need to get the transfer station open so we could drop off tree limbs and tree debris, and moving as quickly as we did, just helped avoid the lines that we saw last July, and obviously that was a much bigger storm too,” says Bulkley.

When asked if he thought the city staff was more prepared, because they saw a similar type of storm so recently, he said it most likely helped with how quickly the staff was able to respond in an organized manor.
