Man Facing Lancaster County Sex Charges, Sentenced in Gage County Case

BEATRICE – A 50-year-old Beatrice man facing two Lancaster County charges of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, has been sentenced to probation in a Gage County case.

Scott Buck, Sr. was sentenced Wednesday to a total of nine years on probation, for three convictions of possessing child pornography.

Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner ordered consecutive three-year probation terms on each of the convictions.  Buck has been in custody in Lancaster County.

Buck’s attorney, Gage County Public Defender Lee Timan said his client had no previous significant criminal history that would point to him being a danger to society.

Timan said Buck was a victim of physical and sexual abuse as a child, dropped out of school in 8th grade, and was removed from the home.

Judge Schreiner said in the Gage County case, Buck was honest with state probation during the pre-sentence investigation.

The judge said he had concerns about what might happen in Lancaster County, but noted that Buck has not been convicted there.

As part of his Gage County probation, Buck is barred from contact with children under age 18, must undergo a sex offender evaluation, not possess pornography, and register as sex offender each year.  He was also ordered not to be near areas where children frequent, such as parks, schools or playgrounds.

Buck was arrested after a May of 2018 search, where state investigators found Buck used a file sharing program on his computer to obtain child pornography.
