Male Driver Detained, After Beatrice Apartment and House Are Struck

BEATRICE – Police located and detained the driver of an SUV, about eight city blocks away from where the vehicle hit an apartment building and an adjacent house, Wednesday afternoon.

Beatrice Police School Resource Officer Zach Lauenstein says the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Scott Street.

Police located the vehicle involved and the driver, at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of East Scott.  The driver was not hurt, and there were no injuries at the scene of the collisions with the apartment and house.

Residents were at home when the Ford SUV hit the buildings, but no one was hurt.  Police investigated the incident between four and five p.m.

Beatrice Police Sergeant Jay Murphy says the driver, identified as 38-year-old Chris Packett,  of Beatrice, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
