BEATRICE – A three-day citywide sweep in Beatrice to collect large items placed at curbside, is over.
:05 “less volume”
Mayor Stan Wirth says that is the initial report from Street Superintendent Jason Moore, on the annual campaign. Residents could register with the city to have large items such as furniture or appliances hauled away, if placed at the curb. Public works personnel used city truck and loaders to canvass the city, over the three days.
Wirth says people are becoming more familiar with limiting the collection to large items.
:09 “of pick-ups”
This year, the city moved the drop-off location for old mattresses to a site two blocks west of the municipal auditorium.
:14 “large roll offs”
The mayor says the Beatrice Board of Public Works will receive a report later, detailing the facts and figures of the annual cleanup. This is the second year the city used a three-day schedule, rather than a week-long collection.
