Lady Jeffs place first, Fairbury boys are runner-up at Raymond Central Invite Thursday

RAYMOND – The Fairbury girls’ track team won the team championship at the Raymond Central Track and Field Invitational Thursday, racking up 145 total points.

The Fairbury boys were runners-up, totaling a season-high 110 points. North Bend Central was the champion with 137.

Looking at some of the top performances, first for the girls, Sara Huss won gold in both the 200 (26.91) and the 400 meter dashes (1:01.80). Fairbury’s 3200 meter relay team of Mikwena Lierman, Ellie Ohlde, Josephine Blatny and Mikasa Lierman won first place (10:23.83 – that’s 15 seconds faster than their previous PR).

In discus, Jessa Eden won the event with a throw of 129 feet-2 inches. In shot put, Izze Schwab took the gold medal (35 feet-8 inches).

The Lady Jeffs came home with 24 medals and 11 new PRs in all.

On the boys’ side, Fairbury’s Dillon Weichel had a great day, getting victories in both the 110 (15.80) and 300 meter hurdles (41.98).

In high jump, Dylan Starr won first place (5 feet-10 inches). In long jump, Isaac Robertson claimed a victory, leaping 19 feet-3 inches.

District track will be next Thursday in Beatrice.
