Kansas Man Killed in Truck-Car Rear End Collision

BEATRICE – A passenger in a car hit from behind by a semi-tractor-trailer has been killed in Brown County, Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the fatality victim was 48-year-old Joseph Taisipic, of Horton, Kansas.   He was a passenger in a 2008 Ford Focus that was stopped, preparing to make a turn from U.S. Highway 75 onto Kansas Highway 20.

A southbound semi-trailer truck driven by 46-year-old Joseph Little, of Page, North Dakota, struck the rear of the Ford.

The driver of the car, 46-year-old Ronald Brook, of Willis, Kansas was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, for possible injuries.  The truck driver, Little, was not injured.

Both occupants of the car and the driver of the semi-trailer truck, were using seatbelts.

The KHP says the collision happened Tuesday morning, at around 6:57, west of Horton, Kansas.   There was no immediate word on whether the truck driver was cited or arrested, in the accident.
