Jefferson County Sheriffs Respond to a 2-Vehicle Accident Tuesday In Fairbury

FAIRBURY – The Jefferson County Sheriff Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon.  Upon arrival at the accident which occurred southwest of Fairbury on Highway 8 and officials found two vehicles in the ditch.

According to the accident report, A 1999 Dakota pickup driven by John Abbot, 21 of Fairbuy was eastbound and turned north, failing to yield to an approaching vehicle.   That vehicle was a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by 27-year-old Victoria Ackman of Fairbury.   The vehicles collided and came to rest in the north ditch.

Both drivers were transported to Jefferson Community Health & Life for non-life threatening injuries.  There was a child in the vehicle driven by Ackman which was in a child seat and did not sustain any injuries.  John Abbott was issued a citation for Fail to Yield.  Both Vehicles are considered a total loss.

Assisting the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department was Jefferson County ambulance department, Fairbury City Fire, Fairbury Rural Fire, and Jefferson County Rescue.
