Jefferson County Looks To Reduce School Truancy

FAIRBURY – Jefferson County is working to help local schools cut down on truancy issues. The county board will soon be meeting with principals to get input on how they can work together with the schools to boost attendance.

Commissioner Mark Schoenrock hopes that by keeping kids in school they can help prevent larger problems in the future.

Schoenrock says the county’s truancy program is based one that has worked well in Seward County.

Schoenrock says if they can help kids early on he believes it can make a big difference in that person’s life and what they can achieve in the future.
