Jefferson County Commissioners Honor Their First Veteran Of The Month

FAIRBURY – A Jefferson County Army Veteran who has spent much of his life helping other veterans was honored this week, for dedication to his country.

Douglas C. Kapke joined the United States Army December 30th, 1966 and served until October of 1966 after serving as 1st Lutenient during overseas duty in Korea.

Douglas and his wife Linda, currently reside on their acreage in rural Fairbury.

Douglas is an active member of the Fairbury American Legion and VFW, where he has served as a past vice commander and is current Chaplain.

Douglas also currently serves on the Jefferson County Veterans Committee.

Douglas humbly thanked the Jefferson County Commissioners and told them he was very honored to receive the award.


The Jefferson County Commissioners will continue to honor the county’s war veterans for service to their country, on the first Tuesday of each month.
