BEATRICE – A disturbance involving a handful of inmates at the Washington County, Kansas Jail is being described as the actions of a group of unhappy inmates, that occurs from time to time.
Washington County, Kansas Sheriff Justin Cordry says no damage was done to jail facilities during the Sunday night incident.

Cordry says inmates have a set of rules they must abide by, and he described the incident as a disciplinary matter. He said it has not been determined if any inmates will face additional charges.

Cordry says he did not anticipate involvement of any other law enforcement agencies to investigate the disturbance. There were no injuries to either jail staff or inmates and Cordry says all of the inmates who were involved are males.
The jail in Washington, Kansas holds some prisoners for Gage County, Nebraska under contract between the two counties. As of Monday, twelve Gage County prisoners were listed as being housed at the Kansas jail.
It was not immediately known if any of the prisoners held for Gage County, were involved in the disturbance.
