Huge Crowds Line Wilber Streets For Czech Festival Parades

BEATRICE – Thousands attended the 57th Annual National Wilber Czech Festival over the weekend, with huge crowds at both Saturday and Sunday parades.

Saturday parade winners included:

Floats             1st       “There’s No Place Like Home”

Antique/Classic Cars  1st   1973 Gran Torino, owned by Mark Strouf

Miscellaneous Entry     1st     Hanover Pool Bus

Tractors        1st        1993 Farmall Super M, owned by Chad West

Horses           1st       Maas Miniature Horses

Sunday parade winners included:

Bands             1st       Sowers Mascot, “Sowing the Seeds of Goodwill”

Antique/Classic Cars          1st       Ford Model A Club

Miscellaneous Entry         1st        Ty’s Outdoor Power and Service

Tractors        1st       1066 International, owned by Mark Strouf

Horses           1st       Aflac, Agent Kerry Butzke

The Volunteer of the Year honor as this year’s Czech Festival was Russ Workman, conductor of the Wilber-Clatonia Alumni Band.   A fundraiser, the drawing for a Chevrolet Equinox vehicle, meant a new vehicle for a resident of Converse, Texas.
