Horn Family Starting Over After Losing Possessions in Fire

DAYKIN – Devastation and Uncertainty. That’s what the Horn Family felt after all of their possessions were lost when their home burned down earlier this year. But thanks to the incredible community support, the family is getting ready to move into a new home as early as the second week in December. A pancake feed fundraiser was held at the Meridian Public School on Sunday to help the family. Cycilia Horn says the support from everybody has been incredible as they have received many gifts from friends, as well as donations from churches to help them get back on their feet. Now, they are fixing up the new house and want to move in before Christmas.

“We still have a long ways to go, and the house that we got needs a lot of work, but we’re finally getting there. We’ve had a lot of people donate their time and supplies to do so, so it’s been really nice.” Horn said.
The Horn family also doesn’t have to make a mortgage payment until January, since the previous owners of their new home are paying the December mortgage payment.
