BEATRICE – Friday through Sunday events at the Homestead National Monument of America drew a total of about 3,500, during this Homestead Days Celebration.

Superintendent Mark Engler says the biggest crowd was Saturday.  Engler says the portrayals of President Abraham Lincoln by Dr. Gene Griessman (GRYS-mun) were among the most popular.

Arts and crafts, living history demonstrations and a Civil War Encampment were featured in the monument’s Homestead Days line-up.  A Children’s Festival was held at the Heritage Center.

Engler says the national park site has its upcoming summer Campfire series of programs, scheduled.
