BEATRICE – Strong thunderstorms seemed to focus on south-central Nebraska overnight. Baseball-sized hail was reported by spotters south of Juniata, in Adams County. Tennis ball-sized hail fell two miles northeast of Grand Island.
Strong thunderstorm winds of 70 miles-per-hour or more were reported in Clay County, three miles west of Clay Center…and in York County, three miles west of Bradshaw. Wind gusts of 60 miles-per-hour and small hail were reported southeast of Lawrence, in Nuckolls County.
There was reported damage to a house located four miles southeast of Utica, in Seward County. Significant tree damage and a power outage was reported in David City, located in Butler County. A public report of a roof blown off a shed, came from Shelby, in Polk County.
Elsewhere in Nebraska, tennis ball-sized hail was reported in Holt County, about 15 miles north of Atkinson, along with hailstones larger than golf balls in Boyd County, southeast of Butte.
In northwest Kansas, strong thunderstorm winds of up to 72 miles per hour were reported at the Russell, Kansas Airport, and two semi-tractor trailers were blown over a mile west of Russell, on Interstate 70.
