GENEVA, NE – For the second straight year, Heartland Bank has been named one of the “Best Banks to Work For.”
Heartland Bank is ranked 30th out of 85 recipients, and is the only Nebraska bank to be included in the list.
The “Best Banks to Work For” program was initiated in 2013 by the American Banker and Best Companies Group. The program honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction.
Heartland Bank marketing director Caitlin Dumas credits the strong feedback from the bank’s associates for the national recognition.
“We generally refer to our (associates) as our greatest asset,” she said. “They make us Heartland Bank. They’re the ones who take the survey that determines whether or not we truly are the best bank to work for. 75 percent of our score is based on what our associates say about us.”
Determining the “Best Banks to Work For” involves a two-step process. The first involves an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices, and demographics.
Second, employee surveys are conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and final ranking.
The program is open to commercial banks, thrifts, savings banks and other chartered retail financial institutions with at least 50 employees in the United States.
Heartland Bank has ten locations across Nebraska, including its headquarters in Geneva, and branches in Fairmont, Shickley, Grafton and soon, Daykin and Fairbury.
In mid-July, Heartland Bank announced the purchase of Jefferson County Bank in Daykin along with First National Bank in Fairbury.
“The majority of our locations are in really small towns,” Dumas said. “We know small, rural communities and that’s our concentration.”
