BEATRICE – A local election official is expecting a healthy turnout of voters in this November 6th election, even though it is a non-Presidential election year.

Gage County Clerk and Election Commissioner Dawn Hill says as of Thursday, 3,437 early voting ballots had been requested in the county.

Races for Governor, House and Senate, State Legislature, and the Medicaid ballot question are among the key points of interest.  Then, there’s the enthusiasm among political parties in a tense national political climate.

A voter registration deadline is coming up, Friday, at six p.m.  Hill says that’s the deadline for in-person voter registration or to make any necessary changes to a registration.

Friday is also the last day to receive an application for early voting ballots to be mailed to a specific address.

In Gage County, 14,275 persons were registered to vote, as of Thursday.

Registered Republicans number 7,406….Democrats, 3,813….non-partisan registrations total 2,907….and Libertarians, 149.
