SIDNEY – Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports the Monday evening arrest of a hammer-wielding man at a hotel near Percival.
Deputies were alerted by a 911 call from the Motel 6 at 6:30 p.m. saying the man was distressing patrons of the hotel. Another 911 call was placed while deputies were enroute.
The Sheriff said deputies arrived to find 22-year-old Darrion Jones of South Dakota and ordered him to surrender the hammer.
At that time, Jones became combative and tried to flee deputies. The deputies deployed a taser that Jones pulled from his body and ran to the Sapp Bros truck stop across the street.
Deputies pursued Jones and apprehended him inside of Sapp Bros after he had jumped behind the counter.
He was arrested for suspicion of assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct and interference with official acts causing bodily injury.
He was transported to the Fremont County Law Enforcement Center, where he was held on a $3,600 bond.
