BEATRICE – Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire crews were sent to a one-vehicle rollover accident, north of Beatrice late last night.   The accident was discovered by a patrolling Gage County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Sheriff Millard Gustafson says the deputy observed a 2007 Chevrolet Impala on its’ side in the west ditch off U.S. Highway 77.  The officer found 35-year-old Jered Tiedeman, of Hallam…outside the vehicle.

Tiedeman was flown by medical helicopter to Bryan LGH West Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  There were no other occupants in the vehicle.  Gustafson said Tiedeman was not wearing a seatbelt and investigators suspect alcohol use was a factor in the accident.   Airbags in the car did not deploy.

Bryan LGH spokesperson Lori Lee says Tiedeman is in critical condition, at the Bryan LGH West Trauma Center.

The accident happened at around 11:45 p.m., about three miles north of Beatrice at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Elm Road.  There’s an S-curve on the highway, at that location.
