Getting Pies in the Face for a Good Cause

FAIRBURY –  Three banks, some pies, and a good cause is what gathered folks together at Union Bank and Trust on Friday afternoon.

Fairbury’s American National Bank, First National Bank and Union Bank and Trust participated in collecting food to fill the local Blue Valley Community Action Food Bank. The banks encouraged community members to donate food to the cause. The prize?  The managers of two banks with the less amount of food collected, would happily take a pie to the face.

Their was an official weigh-in took place in the basement of Union Bank and Trust.  Ol’ Red 99.5 and NCN’s Nichole Scholl announced, “Whomever’s bank starts with the letter ‘U’…is going to get a pie in the face!” First National Bank Manager Tiffany Pfaff exclaimed in excitement.

Over a ton of food was collected. First National Bank food donations weighed in at 976 pounds, Union Bank and Trust weighed in at 862 pounds and American National Bank weighed in at 247 pounds.

Pfaff thanked the community for helping them in this project. Pfaff says, “For all your help and support over the last three weeks, it’s been a joy and a lot of fun. So…anyway…step right up.”

American National Bank Manager Gary Muell and Union Bank and Trust Manager Danni Starck proudly took pies to their face.

After poking fun at the losing banks, Pfaff announced that she also would be taking a pie to the face in support.

Money was also collected at the three banks to donate Blue Valley Community Action Food Bank.
