BEATRICE – Gage County lodging tax revenue will be going to three projects from a visitor’s improvement fund.  The grants, totaling $16,820 are matched with 50% funding from each of the projects.

One grant is for a Gage County Citizen Soldier Exhibit at the Gage County Museum, a project of the Nebraska National Guard Museum and Keep Beatrice Beautiful.  Gage County Tourism Director Lisa Wiegand says the display will honor soldiers who left the former Burlington-Northern Depot, going off to war.

The visitor’s improvement fund in Gage County has a balance of $210,000, which County Board Chairman Myron Dorn says has built up in recent years, and can do a lot of good for the surrounding area.   The visitor’s fund draws money from half of the 4% Gage County lodging tax.
