BEATRICE – Gage County residents this week will get another opportunity to get rid of old tires, for recycling. A tire amnesty event will be held at the parking area just north of the Gage County Fairgrounds, the 12th time for such an event.
Administrator of Keep Beatrice Beautiful, Linda Grell says the organization, working with the Gage County UNL Cooperative Extension Service Office, has been conducting such events about every two years.

The grant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality means up to 375 tons of tires can be accepted…meaning that the collection may not stretch the full two days.
Grell says the tire recycling events have made quite an impact in the county.

During past tire drop-off events, people have showed up well in advance of eight a.m. Grell says there’ll be help, directing traffic.
