BEATRICE – Fresh off a purchase of a liquor store building, Gage County officials approved purchase of an adjacent house, today.
The home is located next to The Buss Stop, which is being purchased by the county for use as possible evidence storage space for the nearby Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center.
County Board members said today an agreement has been reached to purchase the house from James and Kristie Earnhart, for $65,000. Board Chairman Myron Dorn said the prospect of the purchase came up during negotiations for The Buss Stop.

The county will make a $1,000 down payment, with the remainder owing at the time of closing on the purchase, around the end of November. The board approved the purchase, on a 6-0 vote.
The property is valued for tax purposes, at $63,760. Gage County Supervisors did not discuss in open session, what the plans are, for the property. The vote to buy the house followed a short executive session.
Two weeks ago, county officials approved purchase of the liquor and gas station, for $250,000.
