Gage County Man Doesn’t Show For Sentencing…In Kansas Jail

BEATRICE – A Gage County man failed to show for sentencing in Beatrice Wednesday, because he is jailed in Kansas.

Gage County Public Defender Lee Timan informed District Judge Vicky Johnson of Charles O’Keefe’s incarceration.   Jefferson County is north of Lawrence, Kansas.  He is being held on alleged drug violations and disorderly conduct and was booked into the Kansas jail, October 24th.

O’Keefe was to be sentenced Wednesday in Gage County District Court after being convicted of two counts of 3rd-degree domestic assault, both misdemeanors.

Judge Johnson issued a bench warrant for his arrest and revoked his current bond.  The judge set a new appearance bond of $10,000, and ordered O’Keefe to appear the first Monday of the month, following his release.
