Gage County Honors Local Korean War Veteran

BEATRICE – A Gage County Veteran of the Korean War was recognized Wednesday, for his service to the United States.   Morris “Dean” Shuck is among several veterans who have been recognized as part of an ongoing program before the board of supervisors.

Shuck served in the U.S. Air Force from May of 1952, to May of 1956.  Prior to going into the service, he worked for the former C-B-and-Q Railroad…later Burlington Northern-Santa Fe.

Gage County Veterans Service Officer Phil Dittbrenner says Shuck earned four medals for his service and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant.   Shuck took his basic training in San Francisco and then Arizona.  Then, it was off to Japan for 24 months.

Schuck says after his service in the Air Force, he came back to his job with the railroad, working in the Adams area.  He told the Gage County Board he appreciates what the board does.

Shuck was accompanied by family members, during the veterans’ recognition, Wednesday.
