BEATRICE – The Gage County Classic Film Institute is hosting a weekend long event August 19th and 20th celebrating Robert Taylor’s 105th birthday. The event will feature three films, speakers, and experts to answer questions.
Member Janelle Kleveland says since this is their second year they hope to continue hosting events every year.
“Last year was our first event under the Gage County Classic Film Institute and we had one event in 2015 we’ve had one already this year in March where we showed Quo Vadis. So this will be our third event starting on August 19th and then we plan to continue to do this every year.”
Kleveland says she is excited to see everyone.
“We are looking forward to having a good time watching these movies and seeing all the people that care about our movie stars from Gage County.”
The films will be “Personal Property”, “Escape”, and “Many Rivers to Cross”, and will be shown at the Community Players Theatre, which Taylor was once an actor.
“Well, I think that Robert Taylor was a fine person. He’s a nice person. He always maintained his connections with Nebraska and I think that’s something that is so nice to know about him. He came here, he visited, he stayed at the Paddock Hotel which is now the Kensington.”
The event is Friday August 19th and Saturday August 20th. Tickets are available at the Gage County Museum.
