Friends of Homestead Receives Gift, For Digitizing Records

BEATRICE – The Friends of the Homestead National Monument of America has received a donation.   The Daughters of the American Revolution local chapter presented a gift of $7,500 yesterday, to the organization that provides support for the National Monument, four miles west of Beatrice.

The funds will be used to digitize extended parts of the records from the Historic Dempster Archives.  That information is part of an extensive museum collection at Homestead National Monument of America.

Monument Superintendent Mark Engler says the donation will allow the National Park to greatly expand on-line offerings of the historic records, including items such as blueprints, manuals and other significant documents.

A presentation was made yesterday, at the monument’s Heritage Center.
