BEATRICE – A Blue Springs, Nebraska man will serve time in state prison for methamphetamine possession and attempted assault of a U.S. Marshal.
36-year-old Jeremy Mick was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison…consecutive two-year-terms on the two charges. He was fined $100 for a drug infraction and ordered to pay court costs of $150.
Mick was on probation imposed last January, when he was convicted of the crimes, according to Deputy Gage County Attorney, Justin Huber.

Mick’s attorney, Jeff Gaertig sought probation with specialized substance abuse supervision. Mick had missed a scheduled sentencing hearing, August 15th.
Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner said Mick was already a high-risk defendant when he was placed on probation.

The defendant received 28 days credit off the prison term, for time already spent in custody. Following prison, Mick will be on twelve months post-release supervision.
A pending motion to revoke Mick’s probation was rescheduled for hearing, on December 5th.
